Disadvantages of Public School

The main idea of this article was to tell the authors opinon of why public school is a negative. Being very biased, the author stated these specific reasons why:

A regular school going child cannot read literature. He cannot keep silent or think in depth about any one thing. The artificial ‘busy’ness imposed upon him by the school disallows quiet contemplation. Rowdy and destructive behavior, as seen among peers, is more noticeable in school-goers.

Though these are valid points I feel they need to be proven with more facts. With more in-depth reaserch, I could find more information about homeschool and public school.

Stats:

 Six of every 10 Illinois public schools failed to meet federal test targets this year and risk federal sanctions as a result, according to information released Thursday by the Illinois State Board of Education.

Statewide, 656 of the 666 public high schools fell short of the proficiency standard on math and reading tests that students take every spring. Only eight high schools where students take the exam in 11th grade met federal standards. Two more high schools made it based on participation and student performance on other state exams.

The aritcle also included basics about the "No Child Left Behind" and how Illinois isnt meeting those standards. Also the governer is going to pass laws and create more funding to solve this problem

The author remained unbiased and stated the facts. I think this is very important information for my research paper on public school vs homeschool.

In the Tampa Bay Area, home schooling is on the rise. At the beginning of the school year, 1,804 kids were home schooled. After the first month came to an end, 2,121 were now home schooled.  With this many kids out the school loses a high of 13 million dollars.

Many wonder why this is happening. People responded to this question with religion as a main factor as well as more one on one attention, with more personal interest in mind. Also with the kids at home, it creates a closer family and received a well-rounded life.

This article will provide many statics, etc for my research paper in the future if I choose to do this topic.

Pros & Cons of Public School

The main purpose of this article was to get future parents and students to consider the advantages and disadvantages of public school.

An advantage of public school is that it is free. Along with this, students get exposed to more different socio-economic backgrounds and learn to get to know everyone. Based on federal guidelines, a parent will know what to expect in terms of curriculum and their children won’t be introduced to religion.

Disadvantages run from big class sizes with not enough one on one time for students. Also, the dropout and violence rate are higher.

 When picking a public school, make sure to research the best school districts in your area.  Touring the school before choosing also makes the decision much easier.

I think this is vital info for my future paper if I choose to do this topic.

Reflection

After six post and six different topics, I feel I can narrow down what topics I would want to write about. Although I did enjoy reaserching and learning about new things. I believe that the ones that were more focused on school topics would be better for me due to the fact that I am in it right now. For example, getting paid for grades, home school vs public school, and the drama of it all fall in that category. Finding information would be easy and interesting. I think that I would really want to write about those and I just want to be passionate about my topic. The other topics were more TV related, so I think that finding statistics and info would be quick, though I am not sure if I could make my point in my paper. Overall, I believe I should right about something that is school related.
